Also referred by 'Poet's Tea" – Matcha Genmaicha is a staple of artisanal Japanese tea and is surprisingly simple: roasted puffed rice and dried sencha leaves, together coated in a premium quality of bright green matcha powder from Uji, Japan.

What is Genmaicha?

'Genmaicha' literally translates to mean 'brown rice' tea, and is remarkably delicious with a natural, crisp sweetness. The traditional origins of genmaicha began as an accessible tea option to all people, as weight-for-weight it was more cost-effective due to the rice content.

Following this humble origin, Matcha Genmaicha quickly became one of the most greatly adored traditional Japanese loose-leaf teas.

Satiating, energizing, and uniquely full in flavor, Matcha Genmaicha is suitable for most every person due to lower caffeine content and is well-tolerated by even the most sensitive stomachs.

Japanese Farm-direct

From connoisseur to novice tea-drinker, Matcha.com co-founder Dr. Andrew Weil personally selected this Matcha Genmaicha as a Japanese Farm-direct tea that everyone can enjoy.

Excellent!

I’m a novice to this type of tea, but have had it served at an authentic Japanese tea house and the taste and quality was on par with what I had there. I am very pleased and will purchase more when I run out.

Perfectly delicious!

I rarely write reviews but I had to come here and say how much I love this Genmaicha tea. Every morning I feel excited and lucky to get to drink it, and it has become such an important staple in my life! Thank you for that. The roasted puffed rice smells divine once it's steeped, and I love how the leaves are coated in matcha tea. It's simply perfect!

What Makes our Matcha Best?

Our matcha is primarily produced from tea leaves grown in the region of Japan known as Uji, Kyoto. Through an exclusive relationship with our tea-farm (Japan's oldest and most authentic), we're able to share the most exquisite matcha that Japan has to offer – grown on the purest, most carefully maintained land. And each year, the tea-master specially blends the best leaves into the matcha we enjoy today. Since most of this quality of matcha stays for enjoyment within Japan, we're honored to have the chance to share it with you.
